After the heartbreaking 8-7 loss last night, Georgia Tech needed a bounce back and needed it in a big way. They did just that today. The Yellow Jackets sought revenge and got the 10-4 win over the Cardinals, to even out the series.
Kudos to the pitching staff and bullpen today. All-around stellar performance today from that group, which was much needed. After the 4 unearned runs given up by Schmolke, the rest of the relief pitchers put up 0’s.
On the mound, starting RHP Noah Schmolke pitched for 4.2 innings. Schmolke gave up four runs on eight hits, while striking out five batters and walking one batter. In relief, LHP Cody Carwile pitched for 3.0 innings, giving up two hits, walked two batters, and struck out one batter.
Carwile then handed the ball over to RHP Ben King. King needed just three pitches to get out of the eighth inning, with no damage done.
Georgia Tech turned to LHP Camron Hill, who made his highly-anticipated return, after getting hurt back in February. Hill turned in a clean no-hit ninth inning, for the win.
At the plate, Jackson Finley led the way going 2-for-4 with a double and three-RBI homer day. Also contributing, Nicholas Romano who mashed a home-run and drove in three runs. Lastly, Stephen Reid blasted a solo-shot home-run as well.
Jadyn Jackson, Kristian Campbell, and Angelo Dispigna each recorded two hits apiece today, while Jake DeLeo recorded a hit that brought in a run.
Tomorrow it all comes down to who wants to win the series more. The Yellow Jackets and Cardinals will battle for the rubber match tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm and will be broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra.
