DeLeo’s homer powers Georgia Tech past Lipscomb

Georgia Tech welcomed in the Lipscomb Bisons to Russ Chandler Stadium on Tuesday night, for a little midweek matchup. the Yellow Jackets needed a big win, following their series last weekend, and they were able to do just that.

On the mound, starting LHP Dalton Smith pitched for 3.0 innings. Smith gave up two runs on three hits, while walking two batters and striking out one batter. In relief, RHP Jackson Vaughan was handed the ball. Vaughan pitched for 2.0 innings, giving up two runs on five hits, while striking out three batters and walking one batter.

Vaughan then handed the ball over to RHP Aeden Finateri, who pitched for 1.0 innings and struck out one batter, for a perfect inning. Next up, LHP Noah Samol came in to pitch 2.0 innings. Samol gave up one hit and struck out one batter.

Samol then handed the ball over to LHP Joseph Mannelly, to finish the game out. Mannelly pitched the top of the ninth inning, giving up one run on three hits, while striking out three batters, for the win.

At the plate, Jackson Finley led the way, going 2-for-4 with a double. While Jake DeLeo went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Also contributing, Angelo Dispigna and Tyler Minnick each had two hits apiece.

The Yellow Jackets will now take a break, as they await their first ACC weekend-series, with the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. First pitch is scheduled for this Friday evening at 6pm and will be broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra.
