After beating Campbell 16-5 earlier that day, the Yellow Jackets would finally get a chance to play against the top-seeded Tennessee Volunteers. In order to avoid going home, the Yellow Jackets had to of beat Tennessee to force a game 7. Unfortunately they were unable to do so.
On the mound, RHP Zach Maxwell was lights out. Maxwell dealt for 6 innings; He gave up just 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 11 batters. In relief, RHP Dawson Brown dealt for 2.1 innings. Brown gave up 7 runs on 7 hits, while walking 4 and striking out none. RHP Logan McGuire then came in and dealt for 0.1 innings. Then LHP Camron Hill would come in and close out a disaster, as he dealt for 0.1 innings and struck out 1 batter.
At the plate, Stephen Reid led the way going 3-for-4 with a 2-run blast back in the 4th inning. Also contributing, Tim Borden II finished 2-for-5 with 2 RBI. Lastly, Kevin Parada and Tres Gonzalez each finished with 2 hits apiece, while Jadyn Jackson drove in a run.
Also to note, Georgia Tech had a total of 5 guys that made the NCAA Knoxville regional all-tournament team. Kevin Parada, Chandler Simpson, Zach Maxwell, Andrew Jenkins, and lastly Stephen Reid.
The Yellow Jackets magical run now comes to an end in Knoxville after being eliminated last night. Georgia Tech finished the year with a 36-24 record overall and a 16-16 record in the ACC.
