After falling to Campbell 15-8 yesterday, the Yellow Jackets needed to re-group, as they fell into the losers bracket. Georgia Tech would then face Alabama State in a crucial elimination game and would need to win, in order to move on and not go home.
On the mound, starter RHP Chance Huff dealt 7 innings; Huff gave up just 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 8 batters. In relief, the Yellow Jackets used just 1 pitcher. RHP Jackson Finley dealt for 2 innings; Finley gave up just 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 2 batters. Strong pitching was exactly what the Yellow Jackets needed and they got just that today.
At the plate, Chandler Simpson led the way going 4-for-5 with 1 RBI and knocking in 4 runs. Also contributing to the win, Andrew Jenkins went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and knocking in 3 runs, along with Tim Borden II driving in 3 runs as well. Also to note, Tres Gonzalez hit a 3 run home-run that would give the Yellow Jackets the lead. Lastly, Colin Hall and Jadyn Jackson both went 1-for-3 with a combined 4 runs knocked in.
Georgia Tech will now await the loser of tonight’s game between Tennessee and Campbell. The Yellow Jackets will then face that certain team tomorrow at 2 pm.
