Georgia Tech had an interesting matchup today, as they had not seen Louisville at all this past season. The last time these 2 teams faced each other was in the ACC Tournament last year, where the Yellow Jackets walked the Cardinals off in the 12th inning.
After a tough loss against Pittsburgh this past Tuesday, the Yellow Jackets needed to find a way to re-group and be able to leave Charlotte with atleast 1 win in their back pockets. Georgia Tech did exactly that and more.
On the mound, RHP Marquis dealt a career long 6.2 innings; Grissom gave up just 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7 batters. In relief, RHP Dawson Brown recorded his 5th save of the season today. Brown dealt for 2.1 innings; He gave up just 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 2 batters.
Though Louisville gave the Yellow Jackets some trouble at times, the duo between Marquis Grissom Jr and Dawson Brown was spot on today. Something that the Georgia Tech faithful love to see, especially coming out of this starting rotation and bullpen.
At the plate, Drew Compton led the way going 4-for-5 with 2 hits, 3 RBI, and 3 walks. While, Colin Hall went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI and Jake DeLeo going 2-for-3 with 2 hits and 3 RBI.
Georgia Tech will now head back to Atlanta as they will wait to hear the NCAA Tournament selections. The selections will be made coming up on this Monday at 12 pm on ESPN2.
