After some time off after beating Georgia Southern last week, Georgia Tech heads up the road to Akron, Ohio to finish the last stretch of the regular season.
Georgia Tech smashed 5 home runs on the day in effort to run-rule the Zips to get a much needed win on Monday night.
At the plate, Stephen Reid led the way with 2 home runs. Also contributing, Andrew Jenkins, Tim Borden II, and Kevin Parada each hit a home run apiece. Parada’s smashed his 24th home run tonight, which means he is now just one homerun shy of tying the school’s single-season record.
Also contributing offensively – Chandler Simpson went 2-for-3 with a walk, Jack Rubenstein went 3-for-4 with a double. While Jake DeLeo went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
On the mound, the Yellow Jackets were able to get their 3rd shutout of the season. Starter RHP Logan McGuire went 3.0 innings; McGuire gave up just 1 hit, while striking out 6 batters. In relief, RHP Jackson Finley came in and set the Zips down to have a clean, no-hit inning. LHP Josiah Siegel and RHP Marquis Grissom Jr both went a combined 3.0 scoreless innings to wrap the game up and secure the win.
Georgia Tech will stay in Ohio as they will take on the Kent State Golden Flashes tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 6pm and will be broadcast live on the Golden Flashes TV and WREK 91.1 FM.
