After being snubbed from the rankings last week, the Texas A&M Aggies cracked the top 25 for the first time under new head coach Jim Schlossnagle. The Aggies crack the top 25 at number 21 after a 3-1 week against two top 25 opponents.
The Aggies are joined in the top 25 by 5 other SEC teams, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, Auburn and LSU.
After run ruling No. 23 Dallas Baptist on Tuesday night, the Aggies then took two of three from the visiting Razorbacks of Arkansas. The Hogs came into the series at No. 4 in the polls. The Ags took game one 2-1 behind a solid start from Nathan Dettmer, and a great relief appearance from Jacob Palisch.
After dropping the middle game, the Aggies took the rubber match 11-10. Once again the hero of the game was Jacob Palisch, who wasn’t even supposed to pitch on Sunday, but told Coach Schloss that he was ready if needed. Palisch came in to get the final six outs of the game, sending Blue Bell Park into a frenzy.
Jacob Palisch was rewarded for his efforts as he was named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.
