After taking 2/3 games on the road against North Carolina, the Yellow Jackets welcomed in the Mercer Bears to Russ Chandler Stadium for a little midweek matchup.
Mercer won the first game of this 2 game midweek series against Georgia Tech, by a walk-off 5-4 win in Macon. So it was definitely time for the Yellow Jackets to tie this series up.
On the mound, starter RHP Aeden Finateri started the first 2 innings; Finateri gave up 2 runs on 1 hit. In relief, the bullpen was stellar. RHP John Medich, LHP Joseph Mannelly, and LHP Luke Bartnicki scattered just 3 hits over the last 6 innings. Medich recorded a career-high 6 strikeouts on top of that. Lastly, LHP Camron Hill slammed the door with a clean, shut-out 9th inning to seal the victory.
At the plate, Stephen Reid led the way, going 3-for-5 with 2 home runs and a double for 6 RBI. Also contributing, Kevin Parada went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. Next, Colin Hall went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI. Lastly, Chandler Simpson and Tim Borden II each had 2 hits apiece, with Borden driving in a run.
Georgia Tech will continue its home-stand, as they will welcome in the Duke Blue Devils to Atlanta this weekend.
First pitches are scheduled for 6 pm, 4 pm, and 2 pm. Game 1 and game 2 will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra, while game 3 will air nationally on the ACC Network. You can also listen to each game on WREK 91.1 FM.
