After winning their midweek game against Jackson State on Tuesday, the Yellow Jackets welcomed in the Demon Deacons to Russ Chandler Stadium this past weekend.
Unfortunately, Georgia Tech dropped 2/3 games to Wake Forest, losing their first weekend series and first ACC series of the season.
On the mound Friday night, RHP Chance Huff went 4 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits. In relief, LHP Cody Carwile went 3.2 innings, striking out 5 batters and walking just 1. LHP Dalton Smith then came in after and closed the game with a clean ninth inning.
At the plate Friday night, the Yellow Jackets had 9 hits on the night, with Tres Gonzalez leading the way. He finished with 2 hits and just 1 RBI. Tim Borden II finished with 2 hits as well.
On the mound Saturday afternoon, Tech used eight pitchers overall. RHP Zach Maxwell started the game, going 3 innings, allowing 5 runs on 5 hits. In relief, LHP Logan McGuire received the loss. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in just 1 inning of work.
At the plate Saturday afternoon, Andrew Jenkins led the way with 2 home runs and 3 RBI. Contributing as well, Tres Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Also, Jett Lovett hit a two-run homer in the 9th inning.
On the mound Sunday afternoon, RHP Marquis Grissom Jr pitched 3 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit. In relief, John Medich came in and pitched 2 scoreless innings. LHP Luke Bartnicki, RHP Dawson Brown, and LHP Joseph Mannelly all contributed to pitching on the day as well.
At the plate Sunday afternoon, Andrew Jenkins once again led the way. He went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI. Also contributing on the day, Stephen Reid had 3 hits and 3 RBI. While Colin Hall had 2 hits, including a triple, for 3 RBI. Also, pinch hitter Jackson Finley went 2-for-2 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. And lastly, Kevin Parada had 2 hits as well.
On Sunday, Tres Gonzalez was just short of the multi-hit mark for the first time in 6 games, but he did drive in 2 runs.
Georgia Tech will now re-group and look to their upcoming midweek matchup against the Kennesaw State Owls this Tuesday and Wednesday.
Starting pitches are scheduled for 6pm. Tuesday’s game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, while Wednesday’s game will be nationally televised on the ACC Network.
