Georgia Gets Back on Track with Win Against Lipscomb

After starting the season 9-0, the Bulldogs dropped three of their last five including a disappointing series loss to in-state rival Georgia Tech. They split a two-game midweek series against Georgia Southern before beginning the weekend series with Lipscomb. Georgia took the first game of the series with Lipscomb 8-3 on Friday.

Jonathan Cannon took the mound for the Bulldogs and pitched a beautiful six innings, giving up only one run on an RBI double in the top of the first. He struck out eleven and did not walk a batter. He improves to 3-1 with a 2.39 ERA on the season. Collin Caldwell, Will Pearson, and Davis Rokose combined to finish the final three innings and did not allow an earned run.

Corey Collins continued his hot hitting with three more hits including two solo home runs to bring his season total to six. His first home run got the Dawgs on the board in the bottom of the first and was the beginning of six unanswered runs. Collins was one of three players with two RBIs. Georgia hitters also showed their discipline with nine walks on the day.

Saturday’s game has been pushed to a Sunday doubleheader with the first game beginning at 1 PM ET and the second 40 minutes after the end of the first.

Projected Starters for Games Two and Three:

Game Two: LHP Liam Sullivan (1-1, 5.59) vs. LHP Logan Van Treeck (0-1, 8.71)

Game Three: RHP Garrett Brown (0-0, 1.59) vs. RHP Ike Buxton (1-0, 2.45)
