After winning Game 1 on Friday, Kentucky was slated to play TCU in a double-header of seven inning affairs on Saturday. In a close and low scoring front end of the double-header through 4.5 innings, Chase Estep launched a 3-Run bomb to put the game out of reach. With this win, the Wildcats clinched a series win against a top ranked opponent.
Kentucky only needed to use one arm out of the bullpen as Darren Williams only faced seven batters to get the final six outs. This leaves virtually every option available as they go for the sweep this afternoon, and since they have off on Sunday, anybody who does pitch will get an extra day of rest before their next outing.
Offensively, the Wildcats should be pleased with the 7 Hits. This includes the 4 Doubles and 1 HR they tallied. Having 7 LOB is slightly concerning, but getting runners into scoring position with one swing of the bat is always a good sign.
Estep was the driving force for the offense. He did not waste any opportunities. He walked and came around to score on an Adam Fogel double early in the contest, and he put the game out of reach with his home run. He will look to stay hot in the second half of the double-header and relax on Sunday with a huge series sweep.
