- Atlanta, Ga.
Friday, the Georgia Bulldogs traveled to Russ-Chandler-Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia to face in-state rival Georgia Tech on the Flats for the first of three games on the weekend.
Tech got off to a fast start, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning after a 1-2-3 by the Bulldogs in the top half of the frame.
Georgia would add a solo shot in the top of the fourth to cut the lead down to 3-1 before Tim Borden’s moonshot to right-center put the Jackets up 6-1 and opened the contest up.
From there, neither offense did much until late, as the majority of the damage was already done by the Jackets.
Chance Huff dominated on the mound for Tech for much of the night, as pictured below.
Georgia exploded for six runs in the top of the eighth before Tech plated another three in the bottom of the eighth to add back to its lead.
After a busy eighth, the Dawgs went quiet in the ninth to hand Game 1 to Tech in this three-game series.
The two rivals will face off tomorrow afternoon in Athens at Foley Field before the series finale on Sunday at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.
