#14 Florida Travels to Jacksonville to Take on North Florida

The Gators take the short drive to Jacksonville today to meet North Florida on the diamond. Florida had an underwhelming start to the year but has won five straight and hopes to extend the streak to seven before meeting Miami this weekend. The Gators are 6-2 while North Florida sits at an abysmal 1-7.

On paper, Florida should have no trouble with the Ospreys, but this is college baseball, where anything can happen on any given day. Six of North Florida’s eight games have been decided by three runs or less, so this record may not reflect the quality of this team. The first meeting between the two teams was a close one, with Florida winning 3-1 on February 23rd. The Gators jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first three innings and only allowed the one run to the Ospreys in the fifth. Brandon Sproat pitched an amazing game, going five innings of four-hit, one-run baseball, and struck out eight.

Probable Starters:

RHP Brandon Sproat (1-1, 2.57) will take the mound again for the Gators and will face LHP Ryan Jean (0-0, 10.80) for North Florida.
