Alabama baseball offense sputters with RISP in series loss to Texas

The Alabama Crimson Tide traveled to Texas to take on the No. 1 team in the land over the weekend.

Pitching and defense for the Tide was stellar through the first two games, despite brutal weather and sporadic start times.

However, the Tide went 0/9 with RISP on Friday and left six on base Saturday.

No matter how good your pitching and defense is, you can’t win if you don’t score runs.

The good news for Alabama is it’s only February and there’s plenty of time to fix the bats before postseason play starts. However, not scoring a single run in 18 innings is very concerning, even if you’re playing Mariano Rivera on the World Series Yankees.

Alabama out-hit Texas in both games, but failed to score a single run, despite numerous opportunities.

The Tide can build off taking the No. 1 team to the brink in back-to-back games, but may be licking their chops for failing to score a single run until at least Sunday.

Just a puzzling result in Austin. Solid effort from Alabama’s defense and pitching staff, but the offense needs some more BP reps at The Joe next week.

If Alabama can figure out it’s offensive woes, this team can go all the way to Omaha. If not, it’s going to be a long season for a team that hasn’t put up double digit runs in any games yet.

As for Texas, the ceiling is still the roof, as Michael Jordan would say.
