Vanderbilt welcomed the Cowboys to town on opening weekend, but Oklahoma State took the series win back to Stillwater with them.

Friday: Vanderbilt 3, Oklahoma State 0

W: Chris McElvain (1-0)

L: Justin Campbell (0-1)

S: Thomas Schultz(1)

In front of a crowd of over 3800 on opening night, Vanderbilt blanked Oklahoma State. Junior right-hander Chris McElvain went four strong innings and struck out ten to get the game started. He was limited to about the 80 pitch mark. Jack Bulger broke the tie in the bottom of the third with an RBI single. Hits and runs were hard to come by, as expected, but the Commodores would add another in the third and one in the fourth. Three runs would prove to be enough as Patrick Reily (4 IP) and Thomas Schultz (1 IP) would complete the shutout allowing only one hit combined and striking out five.

Saturday: Vanderbilt 3, Oklahoma State 4

W: Roman Phansalkar (1-0)

L: Nick Maldonado (0-1)

S: Trevor Martin (1)

Game two saw a little bit more offense than its predecessor. The Cowboys jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two innings and added another in the fourth before the Commodores were able to break through for their first run in the bottom of the inning. Nick Maldonado went four innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on 6 hits. Vanderbilt would add another in the seventh to cut the lead to just two entering the ninth. Enrique Bradfield Jr. would reach on a walk to begin the final inning and another would reach with just one out to put the tying run aboard. After a double steal put the tying run in scoring position, Bradfield scored on a wild pitch to put bring the lead to just one with the tying run at third. But the comeback was not to be as that runner would be stranded at third to end the game.

Sunday: Vanderbilt 5, Oklahoma State 7

W: Trevor Martin (1-0)

L: Thomas Schultz (0-1)

The rubber match of the series proved to be the most exciting. After pitching dominated the first two games of the series, the offenses really hit their stride in the finale. Spencer Jones got the Dores started in the first with a double and would score on another double by Dominic Keegan. After Oklahoma State answered in the second, Javier Vaz crushed a home run to retake the lead. Later in the game, down 5-3 in the eighth, Jack Bulger would cut the lead to one with an RBI single followed by a sacrifice fly by Gavin Casas to tie the game. The game would not stay tied for long though, as a couple of RBI doubles in the top of the ninth would give the Cowboys the lead and eventually the win. Carter Holton started the game and went four innings, giving up four earned runs on 3 hits while striking out seven. Thomas Schultz would take the loss after giving up two runs on 3 hits in the ninth. Vanderbilt went 7-32 in the game and struck out fourteen times.
