A rematch looms large in the Gainesville regional if Miami and Florida can advance past their first round opponents. Miami shockingly upset the Gators in the season opening series 2-1 in the grand opening of Florida Ballpark.

The Gators ended the season at 38-20 (17-13 SEC). They beat Kentucky then run ruled Mississippi State to start their Hoover run at the SEC tournament title, but were cut down by Tennessee in the semi-finals.

Miami held a 32-19 (20-15 ACC) regular season record this year. The Hurricanes are coming off two straight losses in the ACC tournament to Duke and Florida State.

Florida will face South Florida in the first game of the regional, who is 28-27 (14-14 AAC). The Bulls probably would not have made the NCAA tournament had they not won the AAC tournament championship, but had some impressive wins including splitting a series with East Carolina and taking two out of three from Tulane.

The Hurricanes will get the pleasure of facing the Sun Belt Champion South Alabama Jaguars, who finished the season with a 33-20 (15-9 Sun Belt) regular season record. South Alabama is undefeated at neutral sites this year and are 3-0 against RPI top 25 teams, so this will be a matchup to keep an eye on.
