Overall, Yellow Jackets struggled again on Tuesday night and the Tigers took advantage of that.
Georgia Tech walked eight batters, while four of them scored. Interesting fact, fifty percent of walked batters, score in college baseball on an average. Mistakes like that can really affect the whole game and it definitely came back to haunt the Yellow Jackets tonight.
Marquis Grissom Jr. made his debut on the mound for Georgia Tech and pitched two innings. He only needed nine pitches to retire the side of his first inning. He recorded three strikeouts, but gave up three runs on three hits in the next inning.
Trace Bright started on the mound for the Tigers and received the win. He gave up only two runs on three hits in 4.0 innings.
Offensively, one highlight for the Yellow Jackets was Drew Compton’s two-run homer in the fourth that cut the lead to one, but Georgia Tech just couldn’t hang on.
For Auburn offensively, Steven Williams led the night. He went 2-for-4 on a double and home run.
Georgia Tech will head on the road to face the Virginia Tech Hokies this weekend. First pitches are scheduled for 6pm, 3pm, and 1pm. The game will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra and WREK 91.1 FM.
