On a picture perfect day at Sewell Thomas Stadium the Alabama Crimson Tide dropped a tough midweek contest to the Warhawks of UL-Monroe.
Grayson Hitt made his first career start today and ran into trouble quickly. After a hit and a comebacker off of the pitcher Hitt, ULM’s Danny Desimone hit a 2 out 3 Run home run to left to give ULM a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.
Bama would get on the board in the bottom of the 3rd when William Hamiter brought in Jim Jarvis to make it 3-1. Zane Denton would follow that up with a double to plate Wilson and cut the deficit to 3-2
It would remain a pitchers dual from this point until the top of the 9th when UL-Monroe’s Michael Cerventis would hit a 2 run double to left making it 5-2 in favor of the Warhawks.
Bama would not go down without a fight however, after the first two men reached a fielders choice by WIlson brought up William Hamiter with runners on the corners and 1 out. Hamiter crushed a 3-1 pitch to right but it hooked just foul just missing the game tying home run. Hamiter would strikeout on the next pitch for out 2. Zane Denton would plate one more run cutting it to 5-3 but that would be all she wrote for the Tide. A flyout by Praytor would end it in favor of ULM 5-3.
In a game that saw Alabama fall by 2 runs they ended with 10 hits and 10 runners left on base. Grayson Hitt was hit with the loss making him 1-3 on the season. Trey Lindsey got the win for ULM moving his record to 2-2. Carson Orton recorded his 3rd save of the season for ULM
Alabama falls to 16-12 on the season and will now travel to College Station for a 3 game series with SEC Foe Texas A&M
