American Athletic Conference Preview (Week 4)

Current Standings and Week Outlook

East Carolina (9-2)

The Pirates are flying high on top of the American conference. They went 3-1 last week losing to Old Dominion in extras then sweeping Appalachian State that weekend. This week the Pirates head to Durham for a midweek battle against the Duke Blue Devils Tuesday night at 4pm EST. Duke is looking to avenge its loss to ECU earlier this season where the Pirates won 6-1. After Duke, the Pirates are back home in Greenville this weekend as they take on Charlotte.

South Florida (7-3)

The Bulls are coming off a statement weekend going 3-0 last week against Stetson. They won Sunday’s game via walk off fashion and were suppose to play a midweek game against FSU but that now has been pushed back to later this season. They now turn their attention to Florida Gulf Coast for an away, home, and away series.

Wichita State (6-3)

The Shockers dominated last week going 4-0 taking out Oral Roberts and sweeping a home series against Dixie State. This week the Shockers are heading out west to Arizona to take on the Wildcats in a 4 game series. Their first matchup will be on Thursday.

Houston (7-4)

The Cougars had a rough week last week going 1-3 losing a midweek game against Lamar and a hard fought home series against ranked Texas. Houston is on the road all week this week with a midweek matchup against Incarnate World in San Antonio and then a weekend series at Texas State in San Marcos.

Tulane (5-6)

Tulane look to build momentum after winning their past weekend series against Western Kentucky. Tulane went 2-2 last week and look ahead to a home midweek matchup against Southern on Tuesday and then a road trip to Mobile, Alabama to take on Troy in a three game series.

Memphis (4-5)

The Tigers went 0-5 last week losing a midweek matchup at ranked Ole Miss and then a four game series in Waco, Texas against Baylor. The Tigers turn their attention to the week ahead first with a trip to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt then a three game series against Miami (OH).

Cincinnati (3-7)

Cincinnati went 0-4 last week getting swept in a four game series against UNCW. The Bearcats will be home for the first time this season as they play host to Western Kentucky. Their first matchup will be Friday at 4pm EST.

UCF (3-8)

The Knights, a week after taking a series against ranked Ole Miss, went 0-4 with a midweek loss to Stetson and then a home series sweep by the visiting Liberty. This week the Knights play a 4 game series against North Florida splitting the series home and away.
