Aggies Return to Olsen for Midweek In State Showdowns

COLLEGE STATION,Texas- After finishing the Round Rock Classic at 2-1, the Boys of Olsen look to rebound from Sunday’s loss at the hands of the Auburn Tigers. The Aggies could only manage 4 hits in the 6-1 loss to the Tigers. This was their only loss and blemish on an otherwise stellar weekend. The Aggies finished the weekend as technical champions of the tournament, although no official trophy was handed out.

Other news coming out of the weekend was 3 Aggies were named to the all tournament team. Infielder Will Frizell was named to the all tournament team after going 5-12 in the tournament, with a home run, 2RBI’s and a double. Catcher Mikey Hoehner was also named to the all tourney team after scoring 3 runs and hitting a home run over the weekend. Lastly infielder Zane Schmidt was named tournament Most Valuable Player after going 3/9 and driving in 4 runs, including a triple in Saturday’s win over Oklahoma.

The Aggies are 4-4 going into their midweek showdowns with Houston Baptist and Incarnate Word. The Aggies will face off against HBU on Tuesday night at 6:30 CST. The Aggies are a perfect 12-0 all time against Houston Baptist. Freshman Nathan Detmer will get the start for the Aggies. Detmer is 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA on the young season.

The Aggies will wrap up their midweek on Wednesday night with a game against Incarnate Word. The Aggies are 4-1 against Incarnate Word all time. The lone loss coming in the 2019 season. The Aggies will turn to junior Chris Weber. Weber is making his first appearance of the 2021 season.

Both games are televised and will be available on SECnetwork+. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 6:32 CST.
