The Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech defeated EKU on Sunday to take the series two games to one. They were in full force mode all day and never let off the gas one time.
I felt like pitching and defense really gained a lot of momentum today. Yesterday was a little rough for this pitching crew in particular, but it’s safe to say, we can move on from that.
Winning pitcher Sam Crawford was lights out today. He went 6 innings, allowing just 1 unearned run and 2 hits. He also struck out 2. Really impressive stat, he threw 45 strikes in 68 pitches.
Coach Hall spoke highly of Sam Crawford and said that with his performance today, he has earned himself another start.
Offensively, newcomers Justyn-Henry Malloy and Jake DeLeo both leading the way with two-hit days. Drew Compton came in to pinch-hit for a two-RBI single. Also, while Luke Waddell mashed the only home run of the day in his opening at-bat.
Overall, I was very impressed with the win and thought it was a solid game all around. They definitely took a step in the right direction. Hopefully the team will continue to keep rolling and keep winning.
The Yellow Jackets return to action this Wednesday as they take on in-state foe the Mercer Bears at 1pm.
Then, it’s off to Raleigh to open up ACC play with a talented NC State team next weekend.
