New Orleans, LA – Tulane continues to take care of business. The Green Wave swept the defending SWAC champion Southern Jaguars in a three game split series. Games one and three were held on Tulane’s campus while game two was hosted by Southern University.

Braden Olthoff (4-0) was fantastic again in his Friday night start. Olthoff pitched seven innings and struck out 13 batters while allowing one unearned run on three hits. Olthoff now has an ERA of 0.32 on the year.

The Tulane bats also had a good night as the Green Wave scored in every inning except the sixth and put up an eight spot in the eighth inning to close out a 16-2 victory.

The series continued Saturday as the Green Wave took a quick 90 minute bus ride up I-10 to Southern’s campus in Baton Rouge. Jack Aldrich (2-0) pithed six innings of scoreless ball while striking out nine Jaguars. Tulane was holding on to a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning when they opened up for a five run inning to give reliever Luke Jannetta some insurance as he delivered three scoreless innings and picked up his first save of the year and gave Tulane the 7-0 victory.

Both teams were back in New Orleans Sunday for game three. Donovan Benoit (2-0) was on the mound for Tulane and pitched six innings, giving up two runs, and striking out nine. For the second time in the series the Green Wave scored in all but one inning of their plate appearances. Tulane hitters combined for 13 hits and 10 runs in the finale against Southern to secure the sweep.

With Tulane’s come from behind win over Lamar last night they find themselves on an eight game winning streak and 14-2 overall on the year. The Green Wave have one more game tonight against Lamar before a big series against top-25 Long Beach State this weekend in New Orleans.
